I love cpg categories because it keeps you in control of what you want to read about and what you want to buy. Plus, cpg is great for people with the same interests as you.
Well, I’m just going to go ahead and say that this is a good thing. I used to have a small collection of comics and science fiction books which were my only reference for fantasy books when I was growing up. As I grew up, I moved away from the genre as I was growing bored with it, but I didn’t want to give it up because I loved it so much. A lot of my current obsession with science fiction and fantasy comes from my cpg categories.
cpg is a database of science fiction and fantasy stories. It’s designed to be a catalog of these stories, so it includes all the genre’s best works. There’s a lot of overlap between the genres of science fiction and fantasy, so this database is great for people who like both. It’s easy to browse through and add to your collection.
I think the biggest reason I enjoy reading cpg so much is the variety of stories that are represented. When I see an author I enjoy, like Robert Heinlein or Ursula Le Guin, I find it really easy to jump in and read the whole thing. It’s a huge collection of science fiction, fantasy, horror, and mystery. If I like a story, I can read it in one sitting.
I also love the variety of genres represented. There are a couple of categories that have a lot fewer books than others. These are usually science fiction and fantasy, and I prefer these to other categories. I think this is because most of the other categories are just “genre,” and that’s not very helpful. I also find it fun to add to my collection. I can browse through the cpg.
I like genre books because they tend to be shorter. Not only is this easier than sorting by number of pages, but I can read them a lot quicker. Especially in the case of horror/mystery, I find the story itself is more satisfying when I’m not reading about a character. Also, with the introduction of new authors, a lot of the genres are now more popular, so I’m hoping authors will continue to write books with these settings.
I love how the writers can add the categories. It’s great to see how books fit into the genre, which is great for our research. When I was at my college library, they had just begun to index genres and authors, so there was a lot of stuff new and old. Now everyone is a fan of genre, so Im glad that they are doing this.
I am glad to see that the categories are starting to come out, but I am a little sad that there is not a lot more to do with the categories. For example, I would like to see more authors do a series about a character with a certain setting. It is always nice to get something new and fresh, especially in our field.
Well, I think that the new categories should be the first thing you go on. Then you would have your own little genre index, but otherwise, I think it would be great.
