SumitI think the biggest misconception is that real estate is actually “boring.” I have met several people who are in their mid- to late-30’s and they are surprised at how they are still so interested and so enthusiastic about all the things that they are working on.
The reality is that we don’t need all the buzz or all the attention to be successful. We want to be successful first. We won’t be successful if we’re bored and we won’t be successful at all if we aren’t willing to work hard. I think having a job in real estate is like the most boring job ever.
It seems as if a good number of people are in their mid- to late-30s and still want to be working in real estate. The problem is that our job is to make a good living in real estate, we are not the CEO of a corporation, we don’t have a board of directors with us and we don’t get paid bonuses for being the most awesome thing that ever happened to real estate. So we are left to our own devices.
It’s funny, after all we are still the same, but we are now. In real estate, the first step is to make a new home. I can’t remember where I heard this title from, but I like the idea of a new home because it’s a new home. There have been a lot of new homes with new owners. But the biggest thing we have is an old home.
