The fact is that the majority of our thoughts and behaviors are on autopilot. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing either. Our habits, routines, impulses, and reactions carry us through our lives so we don’t have to stop and think about it every time we wipe our ass or start a car.
This is called “self-awareness” and it is an important part of how we can control our own behavior. Self-awareness is when you stop pretending you can control events or people and start acting as if you are aware of what you’re doing.

Self-awareness is the ability to stop pretending that you know how things work and start acting as if you do. It’s about being aware of how you react to situations and how your actions affect others. A lot of times when I’m making a decision I’m just saying “Well, I’m going to do it this way…” before I actually think about it.
Its not a bad thing, but if you are too self-aware you are no longer thinking about the consequences of your actions or, worse, you’re not thinking about yourself at all because you are acting unconsciously. Think about things you’ve done recently, and you’ll probably say “Yes” or “No” before you have a chance to think about why you’re doing them.
No, Im not like you. Its a bit like your reaction to some of the things youre doing, but its not so bad. Its not like youre thinking about how youre doing something or how youre doing something.Its not like youre thinking about why youre doing something or what you are doing. Its just a fact.
